Why do white spots occur on teeth?

• Fluorosis
Fluoride is a mineral which when consumed in the proper concentration is very beneficial to teeth making them stronger and resistant to dental decay.
Fluoride can even reverse tiny cavities that are starting to form. However, when ingested by children in large amounts, it can do more harm than good. Dental fluorosis occurs when the child is exposed to excessive systemic fluoride during the first six years of life.
